Part 2

Fayna stopped as he spied the land before him, the small houses looked different but at the same time familiar. The salt air penetrated his nose causing memories of his youth to flash by, taking Nahele’s hand he smiled “Come on”

Githa dug, the rich soil had been giving them wonderful food for as far back as he remembered but it was time to plant elsewhere, let the ground rest for a while. Standing upright he stretched as he tried to remove the kinks from his back, looking up at the hills above him he saw two people slowly making their way down to the village. Even from this distance the man looked…..no, it couldn’t be?

Dropping the hoe he walked forward his eyes squinting in the sun as he tried to get a good look. The couple drew closer, the woman he had never seen before wasn’t even sure what she was but the man, his hair was longer and the beard made him think twice.

Fayna grinned widely as he stared into the young man’s face, it had been so long “Hello brother” It was him, Githa ran and embraced him “We thought, well, we hadn’t heard from you in so long” Fayna laughed “I have been busy” he turned to Nahele “This is Nahele” taking her hand he pulled her next to him. Githa noticed he didn’t let go and smiled, busy was he?

Githa ushered them to the house where Adam lay sleeping. Hearing the door open he woke and sat up “Hello father” Fayna smiled down at him, Adam’s eyes filled with tears as he saw his eldest son stand before him “My boy” he whispered gruffly. Fayna waited for him to get over the shock, his eyes travelled up and down the old man; he looked frail not like the robust figure he had seen leave their home so long ago. Adam noticed his son’s look “I am as well as ever, just err, resting my eyes” Fayna chuckled. Adam’s eyes turned to the woman standing close by “Well now, who do we have here?”

“This is Nahele” Fayna went over and lead her to the old man “This is Adam, my father” Nahele stared at him, she had never seen a father before, did they all look like that? Adam slowly swung his legs of the bed and with the help of Githa stood “I am pleased to meet you Nahele” She smiled shyly, Adam turned to his eldest with a mischievous grin “I thought you went to fight?” Nahele observed with amusement as Fayna’s face flushed red “I did, for a while”

Ordila entered the room with the children and shrieked with delight on seeing Fayna, hugging him tight she smiled at her husband, the family was back together. Nahele watched with ever growing unease as they laughed and joked, brought up things from their past. She was out of her depth and with the others busy she slipped outside.

Fayna found her a while later standing at the ocean edge. “I missed you” he whispered hoarsely as he wound his arms round her. “You were busy” Kissing the back of her head “My family are your family, I love you and want you to be in my life always, will you” Nahele smiled weakly and nodded “But A lot…” Pulling her to him he held her tight, in a small space of time she had seen more people than she would have her entire life “We will sort something out” he murmured softly as he nuzzled her neck.

A candle fluttered as the air brushed over it as if sighing in sadness at the stricken girl in the bed, outside it had started to rain; the small drops of water hit the window sill making faint taping sounds. Lykaios sat and watched as the Quella slept; every so often he would wipe her brow with a cool cloth. How had the wound healed by itself, only his kind had that ability and she was certainly no Vampire but her life force was so strong he could almost taste, it had healed just as her wounds had when she arrived, had fought the poison as she would now. She looked younger almost a child curled up under the covers but one look at her curves told you she was not. Going to the window he watched as the rain grew heavier the tapping sound now a weak thud on the glass, who was the other she was trying to warn him of?

Cailean told Eirene of the attempted assassin and told her of his fears for her safety, Eirene had just smiled and replied “What will be will be” still she was grateful to Kelsa and knew she would pull through. Lykaios had disposed of the corpse with the help of Shoid then immediately returned to Kelsa’s room, Cailean smiled, could two negatives attract? Vega had not been seen since the attack and he wished the bloody woman would stay put, her continuous wanderings were rattling his nerves.

Kelsa opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling above her, the ornate carvings were different to the ones she had seen before. Sitting up she felt strong hands press down on her shoulders “No, stay still” Lykaios’s crimson eyes pierced the dim room “You are still weak” fighting the urge to sink back under the covers she sat up. “How do you feel?” Lykaios asked with genuine concern. “Fine” He laughed “You look it, here eat this” he handed her a bowl. Kelsa ate slowly her eyes locked on him, why was he being so….nice? “Is everything all right?” Sitting beside her he thought that an odd question “Shouldn’t it be?” Mumbling a yes she turned her attention back to her food. “What did you try to tell me, you were warning me of something?” Kelsa shook her head, settling under the covers she went back to sleep.

Vega sat among the coffins, sulking. Her plan had been ruined by that bitch, the weeks she had been waiting for that moment only to find the damned creature couldn’t do the job, fuck. How had the Quella found out, had she read her mind, she didn’t think so she had long ago learnt to control her thoughts, still she’d have to be more careful and as for the Quella girl…..

Kelsa drifted in and out of sleep, her sharp hearing picking up the slightest noise would bring her round only for her to nod off again. This time the sound was different, close. She listened to the near silent footsteps outside her door, the turning of the handle. The glimpse of torch light only for darkness to fall once more.

Someone else was in the room……

It was great seeing Adam again, touching reunion and fantastic shot by the water, LOVE that!

And I knew it, Lykos cares more than he is letting on, keeping vigil, wiping her brow? Bad boy romance hero, love it.

And great place to leave it, cliffhanger! Off to read more, wonderful pacing and drama!

Hi Drew,
It was nice for Adam to see Fayna after so long, their very alike even in looks.

Lykaios is becoming very attached to Kelsa but I think there was a bit of guilt there also after all if he hadn't distracted her....

As for Kelsa's late night visitor the castle is in for a shock.
